In his 28th year as an educator, YL demonstrates unwavering passion and leadership. He has successfully secured over 17 million dollars in talent scholarships, enabling his high school students to pursue higher education across the United States. YL's educational journey includes notable performances at prestigious events such as the Olympics in London, England (2012), Chic-Fil-A Bowl (2009), Presidential Inaugural Band Festival in Washington, DC (2012), Bud Billiken Parades, Thanksgiving Parades, and various national parades.

In 2013, YL guided his students to clinch first place at the Olympian Band Festival and the Chicago Football Classic. His programs consistently achieve all-state representation at the Illinois Music Educators Association, earning consecutive superior ratings from the Illinois High School Association for both Concert Band and Jazz Band.

YL's dedication has earned him nominations for prestigious awards, including the Golden Apple Award (2007) and Teacher of the Year (2010). Recognitions extend to a Proclamation from the State of Illinois by Governor Rod Blagojevich (2010), acknowledgment from the City of Richton Park by Mayor Rick Rienbold (2011), and the Rainbow Push/MLK Push to Excel Leadership Award (2010) presented by Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. Moreover, YL has been honored to contribute through presentations and performances at esteemed events like the Midwest International Band Clinic (2009, 2016, 2017, 2019), Jazz Educators Network (2013 & 2016), ILMEA State Conference (2010, 2016, 2017, 2019), along with numerous other national and international workshops and conferences.

Currently serving as the Director of Bands at Monaco Middle School in Las Vegas, NV, YL takes pride in serving both students and the community with integrity and dedication.
